Sažetak
This paper discusses the goals of adult education taking into account the fact that the role of the individual within the context of lifelong learning. The approach here is that goals can be deducted from a certain already existing concepts in the field of adult education or its philosophy. It is clear that the goals of adult education are contained in the lifelong learning concept which originated as an alternative to traditional schooling. Lifelong learning should represent one of the ways out of the situation in which people experience the pressure of these changes. The main goals of education consist in its contribution to the various aspects of social development, such as economic, political or cultural, as well as in the development of the personality of the individual. The fundamental problem which shall be emphasized in this paper are the goals of adult education considering the preparation of the individual to achieve new roles in life and change, and come close to the principles of lifelong learning and the learning society.
