Sažetak
Business continuity management is becoming an indispensable process applied by insurance companies. The ongoing global processes and number of threats facing the insurance industry is increasing, so it is of great importance to manage business continuity in order to minimize the consequences of unexpected events. The aim of this paper is to show how business continuity is managed in insurance industry in the Republic of Croatia. In order to achieve the objective of the paper, a qualitative research with experts from the insurance industry is conducted, to detect key business threats and events that most affected the stability of the business operations of companies. Furthermore, business continuity management methods to overcome the external challenges and the main advantages of the business continuity management were analyzed. The results showed that all companies from the sample apply business continuity management. The majority of respondents agreed with the prompt reaction of the regulator in times of crisis with which the insurance market was affected in pandemic. On the basis of the developed internal regulations and the timely protective measures of the regulator, companies within the sample were able to continue business operations. The paper concludes with a set of guidelines for further research in this topic.
