Sažetak
Ground stations are essential for satellite operations as they are used to send commands to satellites, receive the satellite telemetry information and payload data. We constructed a ground station for UHF and VHF band two-way communication with low Earth orbit satellites and prepared for installation an X-band downlink ground station. In this presentation we will present the geometry relations between a satellite in low Earth orbit and a ground station, where the main challenge is the satellite tracking during its sky pass because of high angular velocity. We will also present characteristics of the link budget in such satellite communications and describe the practical implementation of the stations’ rotating antennas and software.
