Sažetak
Since classical music tends not to appeal to students, it is important to stimulate their interest in it. It is not enough to include it within the music program for all grades ; new pedagogical approaches and projects which will enhance students’ skills in listening to this music and which will foster understanding and personal appreciation, need to be found. One such initiative, whose goal is to enrich students’ listening, concert and cultural experience is the project Schools@Concerts: Tuning Up for the Music Experience. As a European project, it has the additional aim of comparing the experiences of students, teachers and concert hosts when organizing and attending concerts of classical music within the participating countries. The Schools@Concerts project in Croatia demonstrated the potential opportunities for cooperation between schools and concert hosts and how attending concerts can positively influence students’ perception and understanding of classical music. In this way, regular music lessons in schools can be enriched and music knowledge enhanced and deepened. But, it is not just about the music: students had the opportunity to socialize with their peers, share some moments together in a different environment, develop cultural and artistic impressions, spend free-time in qualitative way, experience and recognize a range of sensitive perspectives and freely express their thoughts, state and emotions.
