Sažetak
The transport and industry sectors worldwide are among the top sources of greenhouse gas emissions as well as pollution itself. Therefore, these sectors have to be decarbonized. Decarbonization of transport and industry sectors is achieved by the introduction of renewable fuels as well as with the introduction of electricity-based energy solutions. Electricity based energy solutions include energy carriers created with the use of electricity. These are hydrogen and electrofuels. Also, the role of currently used fossil fuels is considered. Therefore, in the transport sector research investigates the switch from an almost fully fossil fuel-based sector towards the solutions that use electricity. A similar analysis is accomplished for the industry sector. The system analysis and simulations are carried out in the H2RES model. H2RES model is a linear optimization program. It considers capacity expansion, decommission and unit commitment in the sectors of power generation, heating, industry, and transport sector. For the purposes of this research, the model was expanded to include the modelling of electrofuels. Initial results display that most of the transport system is being transitioned to battery electric vehicles, while the remaining part is being fuelled by the hydrogen fuel cell and electrofuels. The industry sector on the other hand displays the majority of processes being transitioned towards hydrogen. The contribution of this research is reflected through the ability to give the policymakers the tool capable of performing the decisions on the development of energy system, particularly in the parts of the sectors that cannot be easily electrified. Also, the modelling adds the level of insurance concerning the ability to transform sectors such as industry even without the investments into new equipment.
