Sažetak
The aim of this study was to determine the effects of an eight-week group-training program on the body composition and specific motor abilities parameters of younger women. The sample of 31 female participants belonged to one of two recreational female groups who did the same type of training and have the same goal which is the development of strength, an increase of muscle mass and reduction of body fat in two different places, Universum gym Osijek (UGO) and Cerna fitness (CF). The UGO group consisted of 12 female subjects (age 25.8±7.3 years, body height 167.5±4.7 cm, body weight 61.9±3.1 kg, BMI 22.1±1.5 kg/m2), while the CF group was made up of 19 subjects (age 34.3±8.9 years, body height 166.3±5.1 cm, body weight 69.2±17.6 kg, BMI 25.0±2.7 kg/m2). For the assessment of anthropological characteristics, the following variables were used: height, weight, body fat percentage, skeletal muscle percentage, body mass index, the circumference of the upper arm, upper arm circumference contracted, the circumference of the calf, waist circumference, hip circumference, waist to hip ratio, sit-ups, squats, push-ups, straddle sit and reach and external arm circumduction with the bar. The results of the measuring after the completion of the experiment have, for the subjects in the UGO group, statistically significant changes in 13 of 14 testing variables, compared to the CF group where is just 6 of 14 significant (p< 0.05). The results of this study have indicated that functional training made better achievements in dimensions of strength than in flexibility and body composition. The increase in variable PUSH at the final in relation to the initial measuring was +24.6% in the UGO group and 14.9% in the CF group.
