Sažetak
Parents (and family) very often post photos, videos, and stories about their children online. In the literature that is called ‘sharenting’. By doing so, especially if there is no consent from the children they are violating children’s privacy. It doesn’t necessarily mean that they will be legally responsible for such behavior. Because the right to privacy always understands some sort of legal protection of that right. Their (right to) privacy is protected from violation by other people, media, the press, etc. However, if parents as legal guardians violate the privacy of the (underage) children in the mentioned case of ‘sharenting’, in Croatia the children don’t have the right to protect themselves from such violation unless it constitutes a criminal offense. They have of course the right to privacy and its protection, but not yet from their parents. The problem of media violation of privacy rights is often in relation - the right to privacy v. freedom of expression. Therefore, in this presentation it was shown the legislative and practical implications of this issue in everyday life, addressing (1.) the violation of children’s privacy right by media, and press, and secondly (2.) the violation of privacy rights of the child by their parents or family mostly on social networks called “sharenting” .
