Sažetak
AIM The aim of this paper is to explain the importance and various types of the street presence of football ultras. Football ultras are the most dominant type of football supporters worldwide and their rituals outside of the premises of sport's events are less known and less investigated by scholars. METHOD An important method for analyzing closed groups and communities is an ethnographic research. This is why an ethnographic research was conducted among football ultras in Croatia from 2019 to 2022. Specific method used in this part of research was ethnographic content analysis (Altheide, 1987). FINDINGS We found that graffiti performances are one of the most important and usual rituals for ultras subculture. In those rituals, ultras are entangled with other subcultures but also with other citizens and city officials. The research showed how graffiti rituals can build up social capital in the community, help building networks inside and outside the group of football supporters and despite it's illegal character often be legitimized by the community and officials. Also, we found out what kind of street art ultras use in their "street" communication with the world around them. CONCLUSION The graffiti art can be a window inside this spectacular and often mystic subculture of football ultras. It could also be a path of reintegration and understanding of the often delinquent subculture of ultras.
