Sažetak
This work presents analysis of the fibulae which were found during the systematic archaeological excavations in Burnum from 2003 to 2014 in the area in and around the amphitheater and the nearby campus which is located west of the military camp, castra Burnum. Chronological determination of the fibulae from Burnum can be explained with specific stratigraphic relations recorded on a wider spatial plan. In the rich and dynamic history of the military camp Burnum several phases were recorded: initial late Augustan – early Tiberian phase, reorganizational Claudian phase, Flavian phase and the one from the late 1st century. Most fibulae were uncovered in the layers in the areas of amphitheater and campus which are dated to the first half of the 1st century on the basis of recovered archaeological finds, ending with the early phase of the Claudius' reign. They can be related to expansion of the camp principium when distribution of existing objects was changed and new constructions were built, which is why the terrain had to be cleaned and new foundations had to be dug which resulted in large amount of waste which had to be thrown out of the camp. However we need to have in mind another possibility, that the material from the fill was transported from the waste dump which was used during the first half of the 1st century and was probably located in immediate vicinity of the amphitheater and campus.
