Sažetak
The aim of the present study was to elucidate relationship between buthyrylcholinesterase (BuChE) and individual lipids in rat plasma, using compounds which affect BuChE activity. Organophosphate dichlorvos (DDVP) ireversibly and directly inhibited the active centre of enzyme, whereas glucocorticoide dexamethasone (DM) did it indirectly in the liver cells trough transcriptional mechanism. The effect of treatment with DDVP (8.0 mg/kg) and DM (0.4 mg/kg) administered intraperitoneally at single and multiple dose on plasma BuChE activity and on the concentrations of serum lipids and lipoproteins were studied in male Wistar rats. Enzyme activity and the serum level of the lipids were determined 4., 7., and 18. day after 1, 2, and 3 DDVP administration and 4., 8., and 18. day after 2, 4 and 5 DM administration. Lower BuChE activity (20-60 % of control activity) in the rat plasma was accompanied by a significant increase in trigliceride (60-200 % p< 0.05), total cholesterol (20-40 % p< 0.05) and HDL cholesterol (20-35 % p< 0.05) whereas LDL cholesterol significantly dropped (40 % p< 0.05), regardless of the inhibitor. According to these results which showed a direct relationship between BuChE activity and the concentrations of lipid fractions it is supposed that changes in lipid metabolism is initially due to the action of DDVP or DM on enzyme activity.
