Sažetak
The balance of payments is the accounting document that systematically summarizes, during the observed time period the financial transactions of a country with the foreign countries. The economic aspect of tourism is reflected in the tourist consumption. Since tourism implies that visitors leave their usual environment to come and stay in the tourist destination, each time when they cross the state border, their consumptions become a subject of interest to be recorded in the balance of payments. The economic relations with foreign countries that have incurred as a result of tourist consumption form the tourism balance of trade (TBoT), which is part of the service account in the balance of payments of each country. There are differences between countries in the size and structure of their TBoT. The tourism balance of trade indicator (TBTI) is used to classify countries according to the ratio of income and expenditure based on foreign tourist trips. TBTI is calculated by dividing the difference between foreign tourism revenue and foreign tourism expenditure by the net income of international tourism. TBTI can take values between 0 and 1. If the value of TBTI is greater than zero, which means that the country generates higher foreign tourism revenues compared to foreign tourism expenditures, the country is considered receptive. On the other hand, if the value of TBTI is less than zero, the country is classified as emissive, because it realizes higher foreign tourism expenditures compared to foreign tourism revenues.
