Sažetak
Children's play is not always and only about fun. It is a complex and content-based activity that represents an irreplaceable learning experience for a child. It is critical that dramatic play, a form of play, is included in teaching processes. This report focuses on what exactly drama education entails in practice and how it can be used in teaching the lower grade levels of elementary schools in the Republic of Croatia, according to the National Curriculum, with a particular focus on drama activities in the English language classroom. Theoretically, the report deals with the phenomenon of children's play, dramatic play in teaching, and its benefits when used as a teaching method. Additionally, drama play in the classroom often has therapeutic effects as well. This report also focuses on the goals and roles of the teacher in the context of drama education. At the end of the report there are examples of games and exercises that could be used in the English language classroom.
