Sažetak
The relevance of citizens’ communication with their local self-government is extremely important for mutual satisfaction and the promotion of the quality of life in a certain area. Communication is an inevitable factor in local self-government units and it is necessary to develop it, and in its absence there is a problem that affects all stakeholders involved. The implementation of local policy that every local self-government has is possible only in the process of two-way communication, i.e. between local self-government and citizens. Nowadays, when information technology is evolving at a staggering rate, the rapid flow of information is available through a variety of media. Digitalisation of cities as part of the Smart Cities project indicates the possibility of rapid development and application of innovative technologies. Public relations experts or employees of local self-government bodies have the task of managing information towards citizens in order to resolve certain situations, which strengthens the reputation and image of cities. There are various communication tools, communication channels and communication strategies implemented for this purpose. Which communication channels and tools cities use to communicate with citizens will be presented by the results of the research, and the sample includes the cities of Vukovar-Srijem County.
