Sažetak
Today Moslavina is a region in northwestern Croatia (part of Sisak-Moslavina, Zagreb and Bjelovar-Bilogora counties), around Moslavačka Gora mountains, located between the rivers Lonja, Česma and Ilova. In the Middle Ages, that is, in the 12th century, the area was dominated by three old Croatian counties, Garić, Gračenica and Moslavina. During the following centuries, Garić and Gračenica were administratively incorporated into the large county of Križevci, and the territory was distributed among various secular and ecclesiastical owners, while the Moslavina estate remained independent throughout the Middle Ages. As early as the 14th century a significant ecclesiastical organization in the area of the Moslavačka Gora has been recorded. Prior to the Ottomans' arrival to the area there were thirteen parishes in the Gračenica area alone, along with fifteen in the Garić area, and nine parishes in Moslavina. There were also two monasteries in the area that belonged to the Franciscans and Pauline Fathers. The mid-15th century is considered to be the time of the greatest boom in the area of present-day Moslavina with the most dense population, excellent transport links, numerous fortified and market towns. A reminder of the tumultuous times of the Middle Ages, above all, are numerous castles scattered over the hills and highlands.
