Sažetak
Today, selective tourism is increasingly recognized as environmentally conscious, socially responsible, culturally original, market competitive and economically profitable. In this sense, the subject of our research is focused on the analysis of the creation and implementation of the Lastovo in the Stars festival project from November 2017 to June 2019, through the activities of the Kontrast association. A case study was chosen as the research strategy, as well as the application of a mixed methodology. Research methods were observation with participation, semi- structured interviews, and survey research. The survey questionnaire was conducted in the period from the beginning of November 2019 to the end of January 2020 and covered 113 visitors to the Festival. The research assumed: the Lastovo Festival in the Stars is precisely where 'new' tourists with a 'new' tourist culture come because of their vacation in an isolated and clean location that is not overcrowded with tourists with an aspiration for an active vacation ; visitors recognize the ecological implications of the Festival and act in accordance with them ; they are satisfied with the various elements of the Festival and the tourist offer of the island of Lastovo and are of the opinion that the tourism of Lastovo should be developed in accordance with sustainable development. The results of the research confirmed the initial research assumptions, which justified the need and expediency of further developing the concept of a sustainable selective form of tourism applicable both to the island of Lastovo and to other similar areas in the context of developing selective forms of tourism that offer a different direction of development and tourist experiences.
