Sažetak
In this paper the author re-examines the written sources on the Mongol incursion into Central Europe in 1241/42. King Bela (IV) of Hungary fled to Dalmatian coastal cities, Split and Trogir, eventually to find refuge on Adriatic islands. Mongols had only one objective: to capture him. The whole episode got complicated in the 15th century (and later in the 19th) when various traditions introduced legends of heroic resistance - even a victory - of Croatians over Mongol armies.
