Sažetak
Art projects and arts-based research make integrated learning possible as they can combine the arts with the syllabus of other disciplines, thus, increasing the comprehension and motivation of teachers and students to engage in art education (Županić Benić , 2016 ). In modern approaches to visual arts in early childhood and preschool education, educators apply the principles of facilitating creative development, which include respecting children as autonomous and authentic beings who have already-formed personalities ; treating them as equal partners in the creative process ; encouraging them to explore and discover on their own in a supportive environment ; and asking them to express themselves verbally and through performance. The visual expression of each child is perceived as unique and is accepted and respected as such. A lot of attention is given to group activities that nurture belonging and teamwork while acknowledging differences, as well as overcoming complex situations, creative thinking and inventiveness. Research in the arts conducted in the field of education must take into consideration all aspects of development and art activities must be adjusted to the personality of each child in order to support their individual creative potential. d uring this process, the child should also be encouraged to develop their theoretical knowledge of art for practical use in future creative work.
