Sažetak
With the development of railways in recent decades, the speeds and loads on the tracks have increased, and so have the dynamic forces that occur during the passage of the railway vehicle. Under such loading conditions, concrete sleepers often experience various failure mechanisms, mainly due to their high stiffness compared to the other components of the track structure. This problem can be partially avoided by installing a fastening system that elastically connects the rail to the sleeper. To date, many studies have been carried out using numerical models to develop new components and elements that allow engineers to analyse their mechanical properties without the need for costly and time-consuming physical prototypes and experimental tests, and such an approach saves time and money. In this paper, a parametric study of the most widely used W14 fastening system in the world has been performed on a detailed finite element (FE) model by changing the geometry of the elastic clip. In this way, the influence of the loads acting on the prestressed concrete sleepers, modelled using the concrete damage plasticity model, can be studied to gain insight into the potential failure of the sleepers under certain loading conditions.
