Sažetak
Background: Although metastatic tumors are rare findings in cervicovaginal samples, mammary carcinomas along with gastrointestinal carcinomas are the most common source of extragenital metastases to the female genital tract .Case: Two cases of metastatic ductal breast carcinoma were founding cervicovaginal smears. The presence of adenocarcinoma with almost always ‘clean background’ is pointed out. Cytologically, small strips, clusters and clumping of tiny tumor cells with minimal variation, fine chromatin clumping and prominent nucleoli as well as scant to moderate cytoplasm were found. Histological correlation was performed. Metastases were local manifestations of more wide-spread dissemination. Conclusion: Cytological diagnosis of breast carcinoma metastasis in cervicovaginal smear is possible, particularly when there are clinical data on abnormal uterine bleeding, postmenopause, positive ‘Pap smear’ with ‘clean background’, and clinical history of breast carcinoma. Its recognition has important diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic implications
