Sažetak
Calcium aluminate cement (CAC) is a special cement for fast and high-performance applications (resistance to chemical attack, high early strength, refractory use, abrasion resistance, use at low ambient temperatures). The addition of supplementary cementitious materials (SCM) as ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) to CAC, will not only contribute to lower the CO2 emission and the cost, but will also minimize the conversion reactions which cause a reduction in compressive strength. Mineralogical analysis is of interest due to the phase transformation that occurs during the conversion process and the formation of the new phase strätlingite that forms when slag is added. The determination of the phases that occur during the hydration process is important because it provides understanding of the properties of CAC as well as the behaviour of the CAC-GGBS system and the influence of GGBS on the microstructure of cement pastes. Therefore, the aim of this work is to determine the phase composition of cement paste made from CAC with and without the addition of slag. The methods used for this purpose are TGA and qualitative XRD analysis. The results of the phase composition are used to understand changes in properties of composites based on CAC-GGBS binder.
