Sažetak
Technical innovations and modern technology have marked the last century more than any other time period in human history. A high level of technological development has been achieved at the expense of the adverse climate changes. Therefore, natural ventilation as a method that was used in buildings even centuries before the industrial revolution is regaining its importance due to its sustainable character. Natural ventilation is the process of exchanging air in an enclosed space without the use of forced convection, i.e. without the use of fans and other similar devices. The focus of the research was to show the effect that a tower building located in the close neighbourhood has on the ventilation of the studied building, located in the center of an urban environment. The effect of the tower position in the urban environment, the height of the tower, the spacing between two neighbouring buildings in the simulated environment, single-sided and cross-ventilation strategy of the main building and flow incidence angles were analyzed in detail. The methods and equipment needed for the experiments in environmental and structural aerodynamics are de fined. Finally, the influence of the studied parameters on the natural ventilation of the main building is analyzed.
