Sažetak
Distal tibial fractures are the second most common physeal fractures in children. however, those fractures have highest rate of complications of all physeal fractures. Those fractures are in 50% sporte related in adolescent's age. Distal tibial physis is responsible for 3-5 mm. of longitudinal growth per year in adolescent growth spurt period. incidence is three times more frequent in boys than girls. Of all physeal fractures in distal tibia 41% are Salter-Harris type III and IV. However, premature physeal arrest occurred in 11, 2%, but this is with proper and on time treatment preventable. Tricks and tips on how to detect correctly type and extent of fracture and how to prevent complications (varus deformity and growth arrest) are outlined in this talk.
