Sažetak
The aim was to evaluate the utilization of antibacterials for systemic use (J01 group) in Croatia. The importance of collecting data on antibiotics consumption is in correlation with the improvement on infectious diseases therapy and lowering risk of resistance. The usage in 2005- 2008 period was processed by the DDD/1000inhabitants/day (DDDs/TID) and ATC classification and being analysed according to the financial indicators. In the period 2005-2008 antibacterials for systemic use obtained in the Croatian market showed a continuous decrease in DDDs/TID as well as in financial costs. For the entire period amoxicillin+clavulanic acid, amoxicillin and doxycycline were the most prescribed drugs. The overall consumption of antibacterials for systemic use in Croatia (18.6- 24.9 DDDs/TID) is higher than in the EU and other Western countries (Denmark and Norway), where the consumption of antibacterials for systemic use is about 16.2-19.7 DDD/TID. The range in consumption, in the period 2005-2008 is much smaller than in the period 1990-2000.
