Sažetak
Loss of hard dental tissues as a result of carious lesion or a trauma, in the anterior and in the posterior region, requires rehabilitation of both function and aesthetics. Replacement of lost tissue is always a challenge given the choice of direct or indirect restoration, materials and techniques selection, while considering all patient characteristics such as age, caries risk and aesthetic requirements. The development of various materials and improvment of their mechanical properties have enabled quick, reliable and easy solutions. Fiber- reinforced composite materials can be used for various indications ranging from direct restorations to even replacing a missing teeth. The advantage of using fibers based on interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) technology is in obtaining a strong chemical adhesion to hard dental tissues. In the lecture, indications for fiber-reinforced composite materials will be discussed, from scientific and clinical point of view, with presentation of clinical cases.
