Sažetak
According to the Flora Europaea the genus Iris in Europe is represented with 30 species. In Croatian flora 16 taxa are present and they are devided into six series. The main interest in this study are Croatian iris species from four series and the relationships between their taxa. The Series Elatae is the most numerous in Croatia, represented with 5 species: Iris croatica Horvat et Horvat M., I. florentina Dykes, I.germanica L., I. variegata L. and I. x rotschildii Degen. The Series Pallidae is represented with Iris illyrica Tomm., I. pallida Lam. and I. pseudopallida Trinajstić. The Series Pumilae is represanted with 2 species: I. adriatica Trinajstić ex Mitić and I. reichenbachii Heuff. The representative of the Series Sibiricae is I. sibirica L. and its subspecies I. sibirica L. ssp. erirrhiza (Pospischal) Wraber. Taxonomical positions and relationships between some of those taxa are still unknown or demand further molecular researches. Thus, the method used to analyse their systematic relationships was restriction-site variation of PCR-amplified cpDNA fragments. The data obtained were analysed using multivariate statistical and cladistical methods. This paper presents the preliminary results in these research of Croatian irises.
