Sažetak
Among IAEA’s activities in NUTEC Plastics, one launched by the Agency raised a larger interest in the European and Central Asia region in 2021, a Virtual Workshop on the Technical-Economic Feasibility studies to implement radiation technology for the recycling of polymer waste. The Workshop had participants from 5 countries and 6 projects: (1) Croatia - recycling of polymer medical waste for implementation in road construction materials ; (2) Hungary - tire rubber preirradiation for better compatibility with thermoplastics for production of raw materials for injection molding ; (3) Poland - recycling of polymer materials from the cable industry ; (4) Romania - a project from the public sector on the production of raw materials from sorted recycled medical waste plastics ; (5) Romania - a project from a private enterprise on separation of polymer waste using radiation technology ; and (6) Turkey - recycling waste lump of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) waste for obtaining carbon fibers. This work will give an overview of the progress of the projects, and their activities.
