Sažetak
Žumberak region is a region on the outskirts of Zagreb periurban area. Usually such areas are zones where rural and urban landscapes mix ; areas of transition from agricultural and other rural land use to urban land use within the urban sphere of influence (activities that require larger areas of land such as business and industrial zones, dormitory settlements, sport and recreational areas, hospitals, etc.). However, some parts of the surroundings, especially Žumberak, are extremely marginal, caused by a number of reasons. The Žumberak region is characterised by depopulation and deagrarization and there are weak economic possibilities. Demographic revitalization is impossible. The landscape has not been significantly transformed ; moreover, it has characteristics of an extremely neglected landscape (especially settlements).
