Sažetak
Textile dust is undesirable in hospital environment because of its potential to serve as nutrient and/or carrier for microorganisms. For purpose of developing a fabric with low dust generation, a study was conducted on fabric structure parameters in relation to fabric properties and particle generation. This paper investigates the influence of the fabric firmness parameters on the topographic characteristics of the fabric surface and the release of textile dust at low mechanical strain (comparable to strain in everyday usage). Tested samples include cotton and cotton/polyester plain weave fabric, with three different weft densities subjected to the washing process. Analyses show strong correlation between fabric surface roughness and particle release.
