Sažetak
By signing the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) in late October 2001, Croatian government demonstrated the political will and made the first step towards institutionalizing the relations with the EU. Political, economic and institutional adjustments required by this agreement will affect all the segments of society. It is therefore necessary for all the participants in this process that follows, is a dynamic category depending not only on the regualtions and the formerly stated conditions, but also on the public opinion. Every Croatian citizen should learn about, fully understand and accept the criteria of the Auropean values. Without this requirement, the efforts of the government and other institutions in the implementation of the agreed goals will not be successful. Assuming that today's young generations will be active participants in the future integration processes, an opinion poll was conducted about the EU at the Faculties of Economics in Split and Osijek. The statistical analysis of the data was compared to the MEI research, as well as to the results of the GESIS organization, which conducts Eurobarometer in the EU. The results served as a basis for the suggestions for further steps that could help in establishing successful integration between Croatia and the EU.
