Sažetak
In the past decade, welding has securely become the cheapest and most widespread procedure for joining two or more materials together. The main goal is to reduce consumption of additional material and/or shielding gasses during the welding process without major degradation of mechanical properties of the structure and the overall quality of the machined weld. Due to the rapid advancements in computing power numerical simulations often replace very expensive experimental measurements. The separated staggered phase-field approach to fracture modelling is used to investigate interaction between measured residual stress and crack propagation in CT specimen machined from a single pass autogenous variable polarity plasma arc (VPPA) welded aluminium alloy 2024-T351 plate. All the measured residual stress data has been acquired from the literature.
