Sažetak
Croatia is a small and young country that has had its political and monetary independence for only one decade. During that time for five years Croatia was exposed to aggression of the neighborly country. Gaining political independence, as a requirement for obtaining a freedom in other fields, was not only the Croatian national desire, but also a desire of all nations on all continents. Once independence was gained, building a market-oriented society with its institutions and systems became a necessity. However, this could only be done with consideration of national interests and specific characteristics of Croatian society. The globalization as it exist today is not in the interest of small nations. It is losing its uniqueness and does not differ from similar strategies in the past where small nations were denied the right to develop their strategies based on the individual state's political and economical specifics. Based on that dimension of globalization, it is upon us to determine what kind of monetary system Croatia needs today. Demanding an attractive analysis will produce results in connection with the wider spectrum of public and monetary finances.
