Sažetak
The team from Radiation chemistry and dosimetry laboratory (RCDL) at Ruder Boskovic Institute in Zagreb in collaboration with the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology of the University of Zagreb is performing investigations on graft copolymerization of dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA) onto cellulose for development of stimuli responsive cellulose based hydrogels. They have successfully introduced gamma irradiation to conventional chemical preparation of the hydrogels in order to increase the polymerization reaction. The work will present the advantages of applying radiation technology for synthesis of cellulose based materials.
