Sažetak
In this paper basic information on the concept of the national minority and the foundations of international protection of the rights of national minorities are given, and then in the central part of the paper the work and activities and contribution of intergovernmental mixed committees for the protection of national minorities in the improvement of minority rights and improvement of minority status are described and analysed, with special emphasis placed on the Intergovernmental Mixed Committee for the Protection of National Minorities between the Republic of Croatia and Hungary.
