Sažetak
The book comprises the proceedings of the conference on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Department of musicology, held at the University of Zagreb – Academy of Music, from November 25th to 28th, 2020. The proceedings focus on four thematic areas. In the first group, there are contributions in which crisis situations are considered at the level of musicological institutions. The tensions arising from the inclusion of musicological courses in the education of performing musicians, the possibilities offered in higher education settings by "fiction- based research", institutions that are guided by the idea of "global musicology", as well as musicological institutions that are in the status of a multiple minority are discussed. The second group consists of contributions that consider musicology as a discipline. Crisis situations, which are discussed here, arise when musicologists recognise the ethnocentric matrix on which their own activity rests or as questions about the current feminist research in musicology. The third group of contributions considers crises that arise when a certain musicological theory, technique or procedure proves to be limited. On the one hand, individual cases of adapting theories from other fields are discussed, and on the other hand, attempts to expand the musicological field so that it can process "big data" are considered. Finally, one of the authors suggests that today's musicologists, faced with crises, could learn from certain historical examples how to face them. The book includes contributions by Susanne Kogler, Zdravko Blažeković, Chanda VanderHart and Abigail Gower, Ivan Ćurković, Jan Giffhorn, Jelka Vukobratović, Martina Bratić, Amy Damron Kyle, Violetta Kostka, Monika Karwaszewska and Hanna Dys, Leon Stefanija, Vanessa Nina Borsan, Matija Marolt and Matevž Pesek, and Tatjana Čunko.
