Human Rights in this Age of Uncertainty critically presents the educational and social historical contexts of social work education and practice in Southeast European nations. The authors explore the transition from the historical context of needs-based services to rights-based approaches and practices. They illustrate the dualism occurring between social work education that promotes human rights approaches versus social work practice that often supports a needs-based paradigm, requiring practitioners to adhere to legal regulations with little or no attention to human rights
