Sažetak
The protection of people and property from various dangers that threaten them, has always been of particular importance for both the individual and for society as a whole. Providing such protection is possible only on the basis of the principles of reciprocity and solidarity. Undoubtedly, the motive and expediency of this kind of protection is compensation for the harm events. Basically, the expediency of such insurance includes the protection of people and property, which is directly in the function of supporting economic development. Insurance is viewed as a potentially important social area, especially if one considers the complexity of the mechanisms that are applied in the insurance area. Whoever is talking about insurance, it should emphasize that it contains mechanisms of an economic-legal nature. Special attention is paid to this activity, from the aspect of economic character of insurance and reinsurance. Special attention will be paid to the functions, organizations, divisions and insurance and reinsurance. Insurance has its own specific economics, given the complexity of the mechanisms that are applied in this area.
