Sažetak
The fifth-generation of mobile networks (5G), is considered as a promising technology for empowering the current communication mainly in mobile networks. The main advantages compared to the current 4G architecture include high bandwidth, ultra-low latency, high mobility and scalability support, massive connectivity, higher reliability, and increased availability. In this paper, a brief overview of current scientific work and trends in using 5G technologies in VANETs is given. The 5G technology can be efficiently used to support vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications in VANETS while enabling real-time video streaming. It can provide new applications and services which are expected to improve security, performance, autonomous driving, business and entertainment, along with traffic safety and efficiency. Integration of 5G in VANETs will satisfy the increasing communication demands and help in the evolution of intelligent transportation systems.
