Sažetak
The aim of this study was to analyze the serum concentrations of cytokines and growth factors prior to DAA treatment in HCV chronic-infected patients according to the virus genotype 1 or 3. Serum concentrations of 13 growth factors (Angiopoietin- 2, EGF, EPO, FGF- basic, G-CSF, GM-CSF, HGF, M-CSF, PDGF-AA, PDGF- BB, SCF, TGF- α, VEGF) and 12 cytokines (IL-5, IL-13, IL-2, IL-6, IL-9, IL-10, IFN-γ, TNF-α, IL- 17A, IL-17F, IL-4 i IL-22) were analysed in 56 chronic HCV patients before antiviral treatment by using bead-based flow cytometry. Statistical analysis was performed using Mann-Whitney U test. Statistical significance was set at p< ; 0, 05. A statistically significant difference was observed in median concentrations of growth factors SCF (82, 19 vs 141, 09 pg / mL, p = 0, 01), TGF-α (10, 98 vs 105, 67, p = 0, 01) and PDGF-AA (53 593, 81 vs 32 508, 38 pg / mL, p = 0, 01), between genotypes 1 and 3, respectively. There was no statistically significant difference in baseline cytokines concentrations between genotypes. Patients infected with HCV genotype 3 had a significantly higher concentrations of Ang-2 and SCF, while patients infected with genotype 1 had a significantly higher concentration of PDGF-AA. The increased incidence of steatosis in patients with chronic hepatitis C caused by genotype 3 indicates certain peculiarities of HCV immunopathogenesis with respect to genotype as shown by different concentrations in growth factors TGF-α, SCF and PDGF-AA.
