Sažetak
In 2014. the Zadar 2020 project was created as part of the Workshop of Urbanism under the guidance of prof. Tihomir Jukić. Four research units were planned to implement through 4 years, and 4 architectural and urban workshops on specific areas of Zadar County and the City of Zadar. The Zadar 2020 project aims to contribute some new ideas to the urban area through a multidisciplinary approach that would review the relation between the city and its functional space. One of the most important approaches in current education is an interdisciplinary approach to problems to achieve extraordinary results in a knowledge-based society. The interdisciplinary Summer School was created as a part of the Zadar 2020 project, organised by the Faculty of Architecture, University of Zagreb and the Department of Tourism and Communication Sciences at the University of Zadar. The interdisciplinary architectural-urban workshop entitled “Zadar the city and the islands” (Zadar 2018) was the third workshop and was held in Zadar from 24 to 30 August 2018. In terms of planning, the question arises as to whether the islands of the Zadar archipelago are, in the most appropriate way, involved in the city's life, the development strategy of the entire area, and how much the city relies on the islands and vice versa. The Zadar 2020 summer school held in 2018 focused on communal life in the confinement of an island and insularity as a way of cultural identification of such confinement. Students explored how design theory, criticism, and practice comprehend issues of island life and insularity in the contemporary world by creating innovative concepts and scenarios.
