Sažetak
A couple of tourist submarines with acrylic hull have been designed and built over the last three decades, aiming to provide people panoramic view of the submerged sea environment. Acrylic hull is composed of several cylindrical sections, connected by steel rings. Bars connecting aft and fore steel heads of the submarine are used for fastening cylindrical acrylic sections. Heads and circular rings are bolted to the external chassis intended to take longitudinal forces induced by hydrostatic loads. This study describes the finite element analysis of steel parts, i.e. the pressure hull and external chassis i.e. of the submarine. The basic principles of the analysis are proposed by ASME Section 8 Division 2, Design by Analysis. Strength and buckling failure modes of the individual structural components and for the assembled structure are investigated.
