Sažetak
The matches played by Yugoslav football clubs in Australia from 1949 to 1990 show a disconnect between the unspoken goals of Yugoslav and Australian sports diplomacy and the harsh realities. We argue that, among other things, these matches should have been a demonstration of the Yugoslav state and its unity in front of the Australian audience, in which emigrants from Yugoslavia constituted a significant number.
