Sažetak
Possibilities of supplying the inhabitants of Zagreb in the last years of the First World War, but also in the first years that followed its end, were explored by the analysis of the unpublished archival material created by various administrative bodies, contemporaneous periodicals, and relevant scientific literature. We can observe legal operations of the Zagreb City Administration’s Rationalization Department, which sought to reduce food shortages by monitoring the prices and quantities of goods that could be purchased. However, due to the lack of basic commodities, especially food, smuggling became more and more pronounced 1918- 1921.
