Sažetak
Is there life without water? Is there an industrial production that does not use water? Can agriculture sustain without irrigating with water of appropriate quality? Water is so important, and we pay so little attention to its protection and preservation. Since many harmful substances get into natural water systems every day, in order to protect human health and enable safe industrial and agricultural production, it is necessary to find adequate water treatment methods. In order to make water treatment as highly efficient but also environmentally and economically acceptable, various natural materials are found and being developed as sorbents for targeted harmful substances. In this paper, the effectiveness of natural zeolite and its modified homoionic sodium form in removing lead and zinc from wastewater was investigated. The results showed that simple, economically viable and environmentally safe chemical modification method with sodium chloride can significantly increase the efficiency of natural zeolite in removing heavy metal ions from water.
