Sažetak
Hepatic cyst infections most commonly develop via bile ducts or by hematogenous route. Since repeated US proved dilation of the biliary tree, and E. coli was isolated from blood culture, this was probably biliary sepsis due to bile duct cholestasis. In patients with verified multiple hepatic cysts who develop fever and abdominal pain hepatic cysts are considered to be the infection site. Such patients require regular monitoring by imaging techniques (US and/or CT), even if initially they do not present with typical symptoms and signs.
