Sažetak
In a world where IC technology is rapidly evolving being a good communicator has never been more important. Never before have we been exposed to such a vast amount of information and, more importantly, in today’s day and age, we are constantly available for communication either via social media, email, or phone. English is seen as international language of business, and it is respectively true as international trade expands continuously and rapidly, bringing new countries into contact. If you want a career in tourism, English is definitely crucial, as almost most forms of business communication are now carried out in English. English is preferred language in the business community as many business partners nowadays do not speak the same native language. In a highly competitive market with a rapid turnover of tourists such as Plitvice Lakes, small differences between businesses can make a big impact on their overall performance. The research part of the paper surveyed the impact and the importance of the English language on a day to day business practices of micro and small businesses in the Plitvice Lakes area and confirmed the strong connection between the proficiency in English language and the positive impacts it has on business performance.
