Sažetak
We have derived the Green's functions for the strip-loaded grounded dielectric slab. The presence of the strips is considered in an approximate way by using the asymptotic strip boundary conditions (ASBC). The ASBC turn out to be a good approximation if the periodicity of the strips is small compared to the wavelength. The ASBC are even able to predict surface waves bound to the strip grating. The properties of the surface waves have been determined by considering the poles of the spectral Green's function. The approach is in particular advantageous in analyzing soft and hard surfaces, as the plane wave model cannot describe surface waves. This paper is done while Zvonimir Sipus was a Ph.D. Student at Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden
