Sažetak
As all the other religious orders, the Augustinian Hermits were from their beginnings trying to create the sustainable authority system, which could provide the uniformity of observance and prevent deviations. Apart from the constitutions of the order, which give us the insights into the normative efforts to accomplish these goals, in the mid-14th century Jordan of Quedlinburg compiled the Liber Vitasfratrum, in which he discusses not only the history of the order and the models of exemplary behaviour, but also the ways how to ensure the durable and appropriate correction mechanisms. This paper focuses on the Jordan’s views on the authority of superiors and its relation with the communal conscience in the correction system of the Order. It tries to analyse how and with what kind of legitimation concepts he tried to build the superior's charisma of office, i.e. the vertical form of disciplinary system, and how it corresponded to the consensus- based governance expressed in the constitutions.
