Sažetak
The modern-day public policies of the European Union call for rapid decarbonization of the electricity system. One of the challenges is the network connection of many new generators. We present a case study on the long-term development issues faced by the transmission (TSO) and distribution (DSO) system operators in Croatia. The recent speeding up of the decarbonization process put the TSO ahead of the previously unseen financial risks. It is expected that the developments toward distributed microgeneration will also put the DSO’s system under stress of a similar degree in the relatively near future.
