Sažetak
Three-dimensional mathematical model of solidification of cast steel plates in sand moulds has been formulated and investigated in the paper. Fourier's partial differential equation of heat conduction is solved by means of Brian's numerical implicit method improved by the author. The method enables easier treatment of boundary conditions and reduces the time of operationalisation of mathematical model. Thermophysical properties of materials in the system casting - mould depend on temperature, which gives nonlinearity and middle carbon cast steel in silica sand moulds, the two new formulas for feeding distance of plates are obtained. The results are in good agreement with experimental values from the literature.
