Sažetak
Many radicalization models hypothesize the combined effects of individual dispositions, such as personality traits and perceptions of context, referring to various forms of experiencing or expecting inequality, injustice, or threats. However, these combined effects are rarely empirically tested. We used a data set collected on representative samples of youth from the UK, Norway and Germany to estimate the contribution of aggression, tendency to provide socially desirable responses, and different forms of subjective inequality (perceived inequality, emotional responses to perceived inequality, economic insecurity) in the prediction of intentions to participate in activities of a potentially violent organization. Our analyses were based on factor scores from models that achieved partial strong invariance, with one of the aggression items varying across countries. Generally, aggression was established as the most potent predictor of intentions to participate in activities of a potentially violent organization, followed by economic insecurity and emotional responses to perceived inequality. Significant interactions were also established.
